CSI-135 (Gas Permeability Tester )
The CSI Gas Permeability Cell System allows for rapid determination of the permeability of films over a wide range of temperatures and pressures.
The measurements of rate of permeation are made by determining the change in the volume of permeated gas, under constant pressure differential across the membrane specimen. A convenient high gas pressure is applied on one side of the membrane under investigation, and the permeated gas is allowed to expand on the opposite side against atmospheric pressure.
The change in the volume of the permeation is measured as a function of time by following the displacement of a short column of colored liquid in a glass capillary. Both high and low rates of the permeation can be measured by an appropriate choice of pressure gradient and available capillary diameters.

The Permeability Cell is self-contained and may be purchased separately from the console. The user may provide its own gas connections, electrical input, and conditioning bath as necessary to change the temperature of the test cell.

The standard system is available complete in a console with all the necessary connectors for gas input to the test cell, and electrical connector for the electromechanical vibrator. The conditioning bath is an integral part of the console and features its separate controls for temperature of the bath, including a pumping stirring system for the liquid media. The Cabinet also includes a test gas surge tank and pressure regulator and gage, the surge tank will keep pressure changes on the gas supply to a minimum during the test.
The cabinet is supplied configured for single or multiple cell arrangement. In the multicell arrangement, individual gas and electric connections are supplied for each test cell. Optionally individual digital timers may be provided to record the time period of the plug movement.
