CSI-8 (Snag Resistance Tester )
The CSI Snag Resistance Tester (also refereed as Mace Tester) is used to determine the resistance to snagging of interior trim fabrics. Snagging is the tendency of individual yarns, or fibers to be pulled from the surface of the fabric by sharp objects and results in deterioration to the fabric's appearance. This effect is reproduced in this apparatus by rotating a sewn specimen of the material mounted on a cylinder in contact with the “mace” or spiked metal sphere.

The instrument includes:

Table top design
Maximum thickness of test samples: 5-mm
Four Mace Cylinders fitted with test fabric sleeves
Mace pointed balls
Two retaining o-rings per test cylinder
Viewing cabinet
Predetermine type electronic counter
Programmable count for end of test
Start-Stop test controls
